A Tradition Rooted in the Terroir

At CASA POLES®, our wines are far more than mere beverages—they are a living testament to the enduring spirit of the Tre Venezie region. Nestled among the rolling hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, now honored as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this land has nurtured a wine tradition that stretches back to ancient times. From the era of the Ancient Romans—when even the revered Empress Livia, wife of Emperor Augustus, was said to appreciate its natural virtues—to the days of the Venetian Doges, Prosecco has always been a faithful reflection of the local terroir and lifestyle.

The Primitive Prosecco

The "original" Prosecco as it is called is a simple yet remarkable wine, born from the unique Glera grape prized for its naturally high sugar content. This inherent sweetness not only nurtures the grape but also triggers a spontaneous, organic secondary fermentation during the spring transfer from barrels to bottles—or even large demijohns—imparting a distinctive sparkling effervescence that sets it apart from products like Champagne. Savored for centuries in the sun-drenched hills north of Treviso, this "primitive" Prosecco was historically the everyday wine of the hardworking local farmers, a nourishing drink essential to their daily diet and survival rather than a luxury for the elite. Embracing the "Bere Contadino" philosophy, CASA POLES® celebrates the tradition of drinking with the same honest, humble spirit as those who have nurtured the land for generations, preserving the authentic character and enduring legacy of this time-honored beverage.

Valdobbiadene:

A UNESCO World Heritage Site

Valdobbiadene, in particular, exemplifies the best of the Tre Venezie region with its mineral-rich soils, ideal climate, and gently rolling terrain—conditions that allow the Glera grape to thrive. The interplay of centuries-old farming methods and artisanal winemaking techniques fosters an environment where spontaneous refermentation can naturally occur, creating Prosecco’s signature effervescence. Vibrant acidity, delicate floral notes, and a unique sense of place define the wines born here, ensuring that each bottle captures the authentic character and timeless heritage of this remarkable land.
